Guo Wenqing Visits Deputy Party Secretary and Governor Chen Yiqin of Guizhou

On October 18, Mr. Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals’ President and Party Group Deputy Secretary and MCC Chairman, visited Chen Yiqin, Deputy Secretary of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee and Governor of Guizhou Province, and Li Zaiyong, member of the Standing Committee of Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Guizhou Province. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening cooperation in related fields, doing a good job in targeted poverty alleviation, and boosting Guizhou’s economic and social development, and reached a broad consensus. During this period, Guo Wenqing and Tao Changhai, Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, also held working discussions on specific cooperation issues.

Guo Wenqing thanked Guizhou Provincial Government for its long-term support and help for China Minmetals and MCC and introduced the basic situation of new China Minmetals after the strategic recombination. He pointed out that after China Minmetals and MCC, two of the global top 500 enterprises, implemented the strategic recombination on December 8, 2015, new China Minmetals took the lead in forming the whole industry chain covering resources discovery, exploration, design, construction, mining, mineral separation, smelting, logistics, and trade in the global metals and mining industry. It is China’s only state-owned capital investment company in the field of metals and mining, shouldering the mission of providing its homeland with sufficient metal resources. China Minmetals has been committed to building itself into a world-class metals and mining corporation ranking No. 1 in China. China Minmetals has currently the total assets of RMB1.68 trillion under management and 200,000 on-duty employees. Now, China Minmetals is building a business system featured by “four beams and eight columns” regarding metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade logistics, and finance and real estate. In terms of metal mining, China Minmetals has developed and operated world-class mines such as Las Bambas Copper Mine, Dugald River Zinc Mine, and Papua New Guinea Ramu Nickel Mine. It also has strong capabilities for resources exploration. Regarding metallurgical construction, it has the world’s largest metallurgical construction enterprise, making up 90% and 60% of the share of domestic and global metallurgical construction markets, respectively. In terms of trade logistics, it has a strong and perfect global network for trade circulation, covering more than 60 countries and regions. With regard to finance and real estate, China Minmetals, one of the three central enterprises with a full financial license, boasts strong capabilities in investment and financing and resource allocation; of the 16 central enterprises with real estate as their main business identified by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, China Minmetals occupies two seats. At the beginning of 2017, China Minmetals put forward the development goal of “three steps, two doublings” and achieved a brilliant start. The entire corporation is striding forward according to this goal, showing good development prospects.

Guo pointed out that China Minmetals has attached great importance to the strategic cooperation with Guizhou Province and cherished the profound friendship in the long-term cooperation. A number of subsidiaries of China Minmetals are operating in Guizhou to serve the local economy. Up to now, China Minmetals has invested 97 billion yuan in Guizhou Province. Specifically, all four expressways under construction would be completed and opened in 2018, one year ahead of schedule. In the future, China Minmetals will continue to take root in Guizhou, bring into full play the advantages of large central enterprises in technology, management, capital, and talents, and play an essential role in highway and airport construction, resources integration of manganese ore, resource development of lead-zinc ore, real estate development, emerging industries, green development, and industrial poverty alleviation to help Guizhou’s rapid economic and social development.

Chen Yiqin welcomed Guo Wenqing and expressed thanks on behalf of Guizhou Provincial Government to China Minmetals and MCC for their contributions to Guizhou’s economic and social development over the years, especially transportation construction and targeted poverty alleviation. Chen Yiqin also expressed appreciation to China Minmetals and MCC for their brilliant achievements since the recombination and briefed on the overall economic development of Guizhou Province. She pointed out that in recent years, Guizhou Province has enjoyed a good momentum for economic and social development, its economic growth has ranked among the top list of China, and the entire Province has a healthy political ecosystem. She hoped to expand fields, increase projects, and give full play to advantages in better cooperation with China Minmetals and MCC.

The two sides also exchanged views on the cooperation in the areas of highway projects under construction, infrastructure construction including municipal transportation, integration, and development of mining resources, real estate development, and Tongren’s “Belt and Double Cores” project.

Zhang Zhaoxiang, Deputy General Manager and member of the Party leadership group of China Minmetals, attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were relevant leaders of Guizhou Province including Zhang Ping, Wan Huidong, Gao Weidong, Hu Yongzhong, Xiong Shan, Ma Linbo, Zhou Congqi, Sun Zhiming and Qiu Zhenguo as well as relevant personnel of China Minmetals Headquarters and MCC such as Zhang Mengxing, Wang Shilei, Pan Zhongyi, Wang Wenhai, Li Xiaojun, Huang Dongmei, Liu Fuming, Tian Zhixiang, Leng Tiesong, and Liu Qingqiang.
