Guo Wenqing Meets with Hunan Governor Xu Dazhe

On December 24, Mr. Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals’ President and Party Group Deputy Secretary and MCC Chairman, led a delegation to visit Hunan and paid a courtesy visit to Xu Dazhe, Deputy Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Hunan Province. The two exchanged ideas on how to deepen government-business cooperation, expedite the development of existing projects, and drive high-quality business development.

Governor Xu welcomed the guests, congratulated on the approaching opening of China Minmetals' Shuikoushan Copper-Lead-Zinc Industry Base and its national new energy and new materials base (Phase I project) in Wangcheng district of Changsha, and briefed the guests on Hunan's social and economic development this year. According to Xu, central enterprises are a pillar of China's national economy and vital for the state-owned economy to play the leading role. China Minmetals, a backbone central enterprise with a sound cooperation history with Hunan, has long contributed to Hunan's social and economic progress. The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Government of Hunan highly value the cooperation with China Minmetals and other central enterprises, and will provide full policy and project support for China Minmetals in Hunan as always. Xu hoped that the abovementioned two projects would set a new starting point for the partnership between China Minmetals and Hunan and that the two sides would follow the guiding principles of the recently-concluded Central Economic Work Conference, pursue coordinated, innovative, green, opening and shared development, and advance the high-quality development of Hunan's manufacturing industry.

Mr. Guo thanked Governor for the hospitality received and the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Government of Hunan for their support, and gave a brief account of China Minmetals' main subsidiaries in Hunan. Guo said that his company has long valued its strategic cooperation with and has been accelerating its industrial development in Hunan and its local subsidiaries are worth over RMB200 billion. In response to Xi Jinping's call for ecological development, China Minmetals has been vigorously advancing the development of the copper-lead-zinc industry base, accelerating the relocation and transformation of Zhuzhou Smelter Group Company Limited, and has completed the pollution control of Xiangjiang River as scheduled, benefiting local residents. It shows that in addition to resource acquisition, China Minmetals is committed to the protective development and utilization of resources. The new energy & materials industry base project is going well, promises vast development potentials and space, and will boost the high-quality development of Hunan.

Guo added, at the conference marking the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up and the Central Economic Work Conference, Xi Jinping pointed out the direction and laid down guiding principles for central enterprises to deepen reform, accelerate transformation and upgrade, and pursue high-quality development. As Hunan continues on its journey of reform and opening up, China Minmetals will continue to pursue coordinated, innovative, green, opening and shared development, shoulder its responsibilities as a central enterprise, set an example for others, deepen its cooperation with Hunan in areas of nonferrous metal smelting, new energy, and urban development, speed up to implement existing projects, work harder on business development, and boost the high-quality development of Hunan. He hoped that Hunan Provincial Party Committee and People's Government would continue to support China Minmetals and its local subsidiaries as always, and create a good business environment for win-win development.

The meeting also discussed details of the partnership.

Other attendees of the meeting included Chen Fei, Vice Governor of Hunan; Li Lianhua, Zhang Zhaoxiang and Jiao Jian, Vice Presidents and Party Group members of China Minmetals; Hu Weilin, head of Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission; Cong Peimo, head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Hunan Province; Hu Zhongxiong, Mayor of Changsha city; Deng Qunce, Mayor of Hengyang city; Ye Congxiong, head of the Policy Development Office of Hunan Provincial People's Government; and executives of the head office, directly affiliated subsidiaries and other subsidiaries of China Minmetals.
