On the morning of July 20, Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals’ President and Deputy Party Group Secretary, met with Wu Weidong, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hebei Provincial Committee and Secretary of CPC Tangshan Municipal Committee. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on further strengthening the cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments.
Guo Wenqing expressed his welcome to Wu Weidong and his delegation, and his gratitude to Tangshan City for its long-term strong support to China Minmetals. He said that China Minmetals has always followed the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly undertaken the mission of serving and reinvigorating the country through mining industry, and continued to strengthen, optimize and expand our key responsibility and major business, and that China Minmetals was moving towards its strategic vision of becoming a world-class metals and mining group. In 2021, China Minmetals gained operating revenue of over RMB 850 billion and reached a record high regarding its total profit and net profit with its total assets being over RMB 1 trillion. Besides, China Minmetals steadily improved the profitability toward a good development trend.
Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals and Tangshan City enjoyed a solid cooperative foundation on which the two sides had forged a deep friendship during the long-term cooperation. In recent years, China Minmetals has been actively promoting the economic and social development of Tangshan. For example, it has a large number of key projects in Tangshan such as the 100-million-ton international ore trading center in Caofeidian and the MCC Ramu ternary precursor new energy materials project. Besides, it has participated extensively in Tangshan’s municipal transportation, engineering construction, urban renewal, equipment manufacturing and other fields, which has played a positive role in promoting Tangshan’s economic and social transformation and high-quality development. China Minmetals has always attached great importance to all-round and multi-level cooperation with Tangshan City. Guo Wenqing hoped that both sides would actively undertake the national mission and better serve the national strategy by giving full play to their own advantages. He said that especially, the two sides should continue to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in the fields of building a national-level ore trading center, and maintaining the security of bulk commodity supply chains and new energy, so as to boost the high-level and all-round strategic cooperation between the two sides to a new level.
Wu Weidong expressed his gratitude to Guo Wenqing for his warm reception and to China Minmetals for its long-term contribution to the economic and social development of Tangshan. He said that at present, Tangshan is in the stage of high-speed and high-quality development, which provides numerous opportunities for the two sides to deepen cooperation. He hoped that the two sides would deepen cooperation in the fields of port development, construction of iron ore storage and transportation bases, new energy materials, new urbanization, urban complexes, rural revitalization and financial services, and continue to promote the win-win development of central state-owned enterprises and local governments.
Both sides had an in-depth discussion on issues of common concern.
Jiao Jian and Chen Jianguang, all Vice President and Party Group Member of China Minmetals attended the meeting. Participants also included Qiao Chaoying, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Tangshan Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Tangshan City, Chen Yu, Member and Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of CPC Tangshan Municipal Committee, Hou Xu, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Tangshan Municipal Committee and Secretary of the CPC Caofeidian District Committee. Other attendees were officials of Tangshan Municipal People’s Government including Lang Wenchang, Zi Hui and Wang Ruiwu, and leaders from China Minmetals’ head offices and its directly-managed enterprises including Xue Fei, Liu Fuming, Zeng Gang, Zhu Haitao, Wu Qingyu, Yuan Silang and Zong Shaoxing.
