Chen Dexin Meets with Gary Nagle, CEO of Glencore

On July 23, Chen Dexin, Chairman of China Minmetals, met with Gary Nagle, Chief Executive Officer of Glencore, who was on a visit to the corporation. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation.

Chen Dexin welcomed Gary Nagle and his delegation, thanking Glencore for its trust and support toward China Minmetals. He noted that Glencore is a highly respected company in the global metals and mining industry. As important partners, the two sides have business cooperation spanning multiple sectors including base metals trading, ferrous metals trading, and engineering and technical services, forming a multi-layered, multi-business win-win cooperation landscape. Currently, Glencore has outlined a strategic positioning focused on “copper resource growth,” which closely aligns with China Minmetals’ strategic direction of strengthening copper resource development and serving the energy transition. He expressed hope that both sides will further tap into cooperation potential, consolidate and expand commodity trade cooperation, actively explore pathways for resource development and strategic investment cooperation, accelerate the implementation of engineering and technical service projects, and jointly elevate their strategic partnership to a new level.

Gary Nagle stated that China Minmetals is an important global strategic partner for Glencore, with a long history and solid foundation of exchanges between the two sides. In recent years, business between the two sides has continued to grow in areas such as metals trading, showing a positive trend with broad prospects for future development. Glencore is willing to further deepen engagement with China Minmetals in areas such as metals trading, mining projects, and engineering and technical services. He expressed hope that the teams of both sides will strengthen communication, continuously explore potential, deepen practical cooperation, and look forward to yielding even more fruitful results at an early date.

Relevant officials from Glencore’s China operations, as well as heads of relevant departments and enterprises at China Minmetals’ headquarters, attended the meeting.
