The 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri County, Shigatse, Xizang, deeply pulled at the heartstrings of people across the country. In response to the disaster, rescue efforts were a top priority, and ensuring the safety and warmth of affected communities was a responsibility. To support this, MCC5 acted swiftly. They urgently mobilized and supplied 1,000 sets of foldable modular houses, and assembled an earthquake relief team led by Party members and key personnel to head to the post-disaster relocation sites in Dingri County and Saga County to begin the installation of these houses. By January 23, the installation of all 1,000 sets of foldable modular houses was completed, providing over 4,000 affected individuals with wind-resistant, earthquake-proof, safe, and warm “new homes.”
The MCC5 earthquake relief team consisted of specialized groups in construction, technology, logistics, and medical support. By leveraging the advantages of a “large-scale coordinated operation,” including system integration, on-site command, professional support, and efficient collaboration, the team quickly mobilized various types of machinery, such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, rollers, and cranes. Despite the harsh natural conditions—high altitudes, extreme oxygen deficiency, and strong ultraviolet radiation—the team carried out site surveys, traffic planning, modular home allocation coordination, and construction equipment organization between multiple relocation sites in Dingri County and Saga County. The work continued without interruption, day and night, ensuring the fastest possible installation of secure homes for the affected communities.
