China Minmetals Holds Work Safety Committee Meeting

China Minmetals Corporation 2025-07-29

On July 9, China Minmetals held its third Work Safety Committee meeting of 2025. Chen Dexin, Chairman of China Minmetals, and Director of the Work Safety Committee, chaired the meeting and delivered a speech. Members of the China Minmetals leadership team attended the meeting.

The meeting conveyed and studied the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping’s important expositions on disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief. The committee also heard a report on the company’s recent work safety situation and the work plan for the next stage. The meeting underscored that safety must be viewed from a political perspective, and the philosophy of “people first, life first” must be further embedded. It is crucial to resolutely overcome complacency and wishful thinking, and always manage work safety with stricter and higher standards. In line with the principle that “safety is integral to industry, business, and production management,” the work safety situation must be carefully analyzed and assessed, and measures for risk prevention and resolution must be precisely studied and deployed. Management requirements from higher authorities and China Minmetals’ work plans must be implemented down to the primary level, and on-site management must be effectively strengthened.

The meeting pointed out that carrying out work safety effectively should be seen as a concrete practice of thoroughly implementing the spirit of the central Party leadership’s eight-point decision on work conduct. Primary leaders at all levels must resolutely shoulder their primary responsibility for implementation, conduct in-depth investigations on the front lines, and focus on tackling chronic and deep-rooted problems in safety management, insisting on on-the-ground inspections to grasp the real situation. The full mobilization of all employees to identify hidden hazards around them is essential to continuously improve the precision of supervision and the quality of hazard identification and rectification. The meeting also emphasized the importance of practical work and solid results, ensuring that all work safety deployments are effectively implemented with high-level execution capability. The results of rectification following disciplinary inspections should be continuously consolidated and deepened through reflection on past incidents, targeted governance, supervision and accountability, and long-term control mechanisms. The three-year action plan for tackling root causes in work safety must be robustly carried out, accelerating the construction of a safety management system centered on the implementation of work safety responsibilities, while comprehensively strengthening safety risk control at construction sites.

The meeting stressed that with the imminent arrival of the “late July and early August” peak flood season, emergency response capabilities must be further improved. All necessary measures must be taken for flood and typhoon prevention, and secondary disasters caused by strong winds and heavy rain must be strictly prevented. Fire safety work must be continuously enhanced, with strengthened safety inspections in key areas and full implementation of fire prevention measures. Safety inspections for special periods and holiday duty and watch-keeping arrangements must be well-managed to firmly build the people’s line of defense for work safety.
