On November 17, China Minmetals signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) in Beijing. Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, Zhu Kebing, Deputy Party Group Secretary, Director and President of China Minmetals, Wu Guilong, the Party Secretary of USTB, and Yang Renshu, the President of USTB, jointly witnessed the signing and held talks. Wang Jiezhi, Deputy Party Group Secretary and Director of China Minmetals, and Zhang Weidong, a Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice-President of USTB, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties. Sheng Jiawei, a Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of USTB, attended the event.

Before the talks, both parties visited the Exhibition Hall of President Xi Jinping's Important Reply Letters and the Scientific and Technological Achievement Exhibition of USTB, and jointly studied the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's two important reply letters to all Pakistani students and senior professors at USTB.

Chen Dexin thanked USTB for its long-term support to China Minmetals and introduced the history and operations of China Minmetals. He said that after 75 years of transformation and development, China Minmetals has formed development advantages of a complete industrial chain integrating resource exploration, design and construction, development and operation, smelting and processing, trade and logistics, scientific and technological R&D, and financial capital. Upholding the philosophy that "raw materials must be refined into components, components engineered into reliable equipment, and equipment proven effective in application", it comprehensively enhances the core function of ensuring the supply and security of national metal mineral resources. He noted that USTB has a profound cooperation foundation with China Minmetals. Building on the talks held in August this year, the two sides have intensified communication and coordination, achieving tangible results in various cooperations. He expressed hope that taking this signing as an opportunity, both parties will adhere to addressing shared challenges, deepen cooperation in fields such as the development of strategic rare metal industries, original technology R&D, and the cultivation of international compound talents, focus on the "Five Key priorities", strengthen the in-depth integration of industry, academia, research and application, promote the integrated development of education, science and technology and talent, and make greater contributions to developing new quality productive forces and building a modern industrial system.

Wu Guilong thanked China Minmetals for its long-term trust and support to USTB and introduced the school's discipline construction, faculty team and talent cultivation. He said that USTB attaches great importance to cooperation with China Minmetals. In the future, it will further focus on the development needs of the industry and enterprises, taking platform construction as the foundation and cooperative projects as the starting point, make every effort to build bases for talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, and achievement transformation. USTB will provide comprehensive support for technical research and professional talents to China Minmetals, and jointly open a new chapter in university-enterprise collaboration.
