President Zhou Meets Banco de Chile's Chairman Pablo Granifo Lavín

President Zhou Zhongshu met Banco de Chile's Chairman Pablo Granifo Lavín and his colleagues on October 9. They made in-depth exchanges in promoting cooperation. Vice-president Li Fuli was also present at the meeting.

President Zhou welcomed Chairman Granifo Lavín. He said Chile and China are far away from each other yet the two countries have had friendly relationships for many years. China and Chile share strong economic complementarities. Chile is a country of rich resources while China has great market potential. President Zhou also expressed gratitude to the strong support offered by Banco de Chile in the exploitation of copper in Chile, and he hoped that in the future both parties could further expand cooperation in the exploitation of mineral resources in Chile and even the whole South America on the basis of mutual trust and support.

Chairman Graniv expressed his gratitude to President Zhou's gracious invitation, and introduced the development of Chile's economy and its mining industry. Both parties also exchanges views on topics of common interest such as international economy and financial areas.  

Banco de Chile is the largest commercial bank in Chile. During President Zhou's visit to Chile in 2010, the Group signed a Three-party Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Banco de Chile and Nacional del Cobre de Chile. The Agreement is in the purpose of enhancing strategic partnerships between the three parties, and Banco de Chile will back up the cooperation between the Group and Nacional del Cobre de Chile for mineral resources exploitation in more areas and regions.

Jiao Jian, Assistant President and General Manager of Non-ferrous Metals Holdings and Xu Jiqin, Vice-general Manager of Non-ferrous Metals Holdings also attended the meeting.
