Chinese multinationals should grasp the strategic opportunities for deepening the reform, keep abreast of the latest trends, changes of global economy, and enhance their capacity for value creation, competitiveness, and soft power, so as to integrate themselves into the global economy at a higher level and to open up more space for development. President Zhou's speech was widely received by delegates.

Before the opening ceremony, Du Qinglin, Wang Yong and some other leaders shook hands with President Zhou and leaders from other multinationals at home and abroad and posed for pictures.

This session was hosted jointly by the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations, the UNDP and the UNCTAD under the theme of “promoting investment by multinationals, strengthening corporate social responsibility, and promoting sustainable development”. Representatives of more than 150 large enterprises at home and abroad from 17 countries attended the Roundtable. Since 2007, the Roundtable has been held for six consecutive sessions, playing an important role in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between Chinese multinationals and foreign multinationals and promoting sustainable economic development in China and in other countries.
