From July 19 to July 20, Chairman and Party Secretary He Wenbo led all the trainees of the Minmetals Vanguard (Flowing Molten Iron) Class under Eagle Program” to Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), Shanghai Electric Group Company Limited (“Shanghai Electric”) and Baosteel Group (“Baosteel”) for a visit and study, and had talks with COMAC Chairman Jin Zhuanglong and General Manager He Dongfeng; Shanghai Electric Chairman Huang Dinan; Baosteel Chairman Xu Lejiang and General Manager Chen Derong. They were accompanied by Feng Guiquan, Deputy General Manager of Minmetals; Lv Yachen, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Electric; Dai Zhihao, Party Standing Committee Member of Baosteel, and Guyo Pin, Deputy General Manager of Baosteel.

On the morning of July 19, He Wenbo and his delegation first went to Pudong New Area to visit the assembly and manufacturing center of COMAC. He Wenbo extended his congratulations to COMAC on its great achievements since its establishment, saying that as central enterprises, Minmetals and COMAC share the same mission to contribute to the great concept of Chinese dream. He Wenbo said that Minmetals will continue to support the cause of the large aircraft project and follow closely the development of COMAC. At the same time, he highly recognized COMAC for its innovation and exploration, safety concept, and the corporate philosophy of protracted struggles, long-term research, painstaking efforts, and tireless dedication, hailing its achievements as a leap of Chinese manufacturing industry. He Wenbo also asked all the trainees to expand learning through the industry chain, broaden their horizons and knowledge, study the great mind and philosophy of COMAC, and to improve their work state.

COMAC Chairman Jin Zhuanglong extended his warm welcome to He Wenbo and his delegation, and introduced in detail the development and team building of COMAC. COMAC General Manager He Dongfeng delivered a speech titled “Innovation and Practice in Large Aircraft Project”, explaining in detail the recent exploration and development of COMAC, particularly in terms of the significance and mission of the large aircraft project, analysis of internal and external market conditions, and innovation and practice.

He Wenbo and his delegation also visited C919 Large Aircraft and ARJ21 production and assembly lines, and watched COMAC documentaries.

On the afternoon of July 19, He Wenbo and his delegation went to the manufacturing base of Shanghai Electric in Lingang Industrial Area in Shanghai and met Shanghai Electric Chairman Huang Dinan and Deputy President Lv Yachen. The two sides exchanged views on how to strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation.

He Wenbo first introduced the reform and development of Minmetals in recent years, the three missions of Minmetals and its positioning, and the industry status and assets distribution of Minmetals after the restructuring of MCC. He Wenbo spoke highly of the leading edges of Shanghai Electric in China’s manufacturing industry, hoping that both sides will strengthen industrial synergies for mutual benefits by giving full play to their strengths and through complementary advantages.

Shanghai Electric Chairman Huang Dinan introduced in detail the industrial development, corporate governance and planning for the “13th Five-year Period” of Shanghai Electric, with a focus on its progress in the intelligent manufacturing and robotics industry. He also proposed further bilateral cooperation and exchanges in such fields as overseas network marketing, project subcontracting, mining equipment production and combination between industry and finance.

MCC Chief Engineer Han Guorui exchanged advanced experience of MCC in design and construction in equipment manufacturing with leaders of Shanghai Electric.

Xie Kangde, Director and General Manager of China Tungsten and High-tech Materials Co., Ltd., introduced in detail the layout of the tungsten industry chain, development status and core advantageous products of Minmetals.

He Wenbo and his delegation also visited the exhibition halls of Shanghai Electric, inspecting Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Equipment Co., Ltd., Shanghai Electric Lingang Plant, Shanghai No. 1 Machine Tool Plant Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Electric Wind Power Equipment Co., Ltd.

The trainees had special interactive exchanges with personnel in charge of the Shanghai Electric Technology Management Department, the Academia Sinica and relevant units on such topics as Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing.

On July 20, He Wenbo and his delegation came to the customer service center of Baosteel to meet Chairman Xu Lejiang and General Manager Chen Derong. The two sides discussed and exchanged their views on topics such as how to respond to the New Normal of the steel industry and further promote bilateral cooperation.

In his speech, Baosteel Chairman Xu Lejiang extended his warm welcome to He Wenbo and his delegation, reviewed the long-standing cooperation between Baosteel and Minmetals and the process of development of the Chinese iron and steel industry, and analyzed the industrial status in which the Internet is changing the marketing model of steel and iron. He also said that both a central enterprise, Baosteel and Minmetals should give full play to the advantages of institutions and mechanisms to further strengthen cooperation. He also hoped that young people will play a positive role in the reform of state-owned enterprises and take on a heavy responsibility to make state-owned enterprises bigger and stronger. Finally, he wished the trainees a great success in their study as early as possible!

Dai Zhihao, Party Standing Committee Member of Baosteel Group and General Manager of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., relevant leaders of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., leaders of Shanghai Baosteel International Economic & Trading Co., Ltd., and relevant units provided all the trainees with a thematic training seminar, introducing in detail the situation and development strategies of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.. They particularly provided exchanges and case sharing with regard to the product value system, channel development, marketing concepts, and intelligent supply chain of Baosteel.

In his concluding remarks on the training programs of the day, Minmetals Deputy General Manager Feng Guiquan pointed out that all the trainees should draw on and study the experience of Baosteel in developing strategic planning and unswervingly implementing it, profoundly consider its valuable experience in system building and marketing, and apply what they have learnt in their work in a flexible manner. At the same time, he looked forward to a new height in the bilateral cooperation and friendship between the two sides, a mechanism for regular dialogues and exchanges, and joint study and common progress!

Previously, all the trainees paid a visit to Baosteel Shanghai Bao-Mit Steel Distribution Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Steel Trading Centre co., LTD. under Ouyeel. When studying in the steel processing center of Baosteel Shanghai Bao-Mit Steel Distribution Co., Ltd., the trainees conducted in-depth exchanges with leaders of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. and Baosteel Shanghai Bao-Mit Steel Distribution Co., Ltd. in the profitability of the steel processing and distribution industry, the service models, diversity of raw materials and products and experience learnt from cooperation with foreign companies. During their visit to Ouyeel, the trainees were shown the entire process of steel marketing, from the trading hall to the mobile service platform to the online supermarket, and to the existing e-commerce platform. And they also carefully studied the leading edges of Ouyeel in logistics system building, financial services, and other areas.

In a bid to further intensify its efforts to train high-quality, high-potential young talents, Minmetals initiated the “Eagle Program”, a personnel training program. This Shanghai industrial chain expansion is the second stop of the centralized training for industrial expansion 2016 of the “Vanguard Class under Eagle Program”. This industrial expansion has been planned, arranged and led personally by He Wenbo to provide trainees with an opportunity to practice and improve themselves in the upstream and downstream areas of the industrial chain, understand industrial rules and customer demand, get a deep insight into business opportunities, and to lay a solid foundation for playing their role as a “driver of circulation transformation” while studying in their own post.
