On May 16, the signing ceremony of the “Belt and Road” global strategic cooperation framework agreement between China Minmetals Corporation (China Minmetals) and HBIS Group Co., Ltd (HBIS) was held in Minmetals Plaza, Beijing. Witnessed by China Minmetals’ Chairman and Party Group Secretary Tang Fuping and HBIS Chairman and Party Secretary Yu Yong, China Minmetals Senior Vice President and MCC President Zhang Zhaoxiang and HBIS Vice President Liu Jian signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides, respectively.
According to the agreement, the two sides will, in the principles of “drawing on each other’s strengths, resources sharing, reciprocity and mutual benefits, cooperation and win-win outcome” and on the basis of the existing cooperation, focus on practicing the “Belt and Road” initiative, keep deepening global coordination of the whole industrial chain, innovate business mode and way of cooperation, create an all-around strategic partnership, and achieve mutual benefits, win-win outcome and common development. In specific areas of cooperation, the two sides pledge to fully leverage their respective advantages, and jointly promote industrial transformation and upgrading as well as cooperation for building up production capacity and cooperation in the fields of global resources, trade and capital. The two sides will cooperate with each other in the field of international business operations and management, etc. Meanwhile, the two sides will establish a cooperation support mechanism for high-level strategic communications and information exchange and sharing in order to give greater impetus to cooperation.
Before the signing ceremony, Tang held talks with the delegation headed by Yu, and the two sides made in-depth communications on the topics of common concern.
Tang expressed his welcome to the delegation and congratulations to the HBIS for its outstanding performance in the aspects of internationalized development and industrial restructuring, etc. He gave a brief introduction to the overall situation and the development of China Minmetals since the beginning of 2018, noting that China Minmetals and HBIS have a vast space for cooperation on the basis of their unique development advantages. Tang expressed his expectations for cooperation with HBIS for further deepening cooperation and coordinated development in the aspects of “Belt and Road” initiative and market coordination, etc., and fully leveraging their respective advantages to actively explore new business model and way of cooperation. He hoped that the two sides take this opportunity to work faster to cooperate with each other, continue to promote the cooperation and work together to open up a broader market space, and believed that the bilateral cooperation can make greater contributions to implementing national strategies and promoting industrial transformation.
Yu thanked Tang and introduced the thoughts on and future priorities of the development of HBIS. He said that the long-term cooperation between HBIS and China Minmetals has yielded fruitful fruits. Particularly, in recent years, the two sides communicated with each other frequently and effectively and had shared aspirations for cooperation and development in the future. He hoped that relevant departments of the two sides work faster to cooperate with each other, detail the content of cooperation as soon as possible, work to make achievements in specific areas of cooperation, and play a more significant role in promoting industrial capacity cooperation between the iron & steel sector of China and that of other countries.
In addition, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on the overall development of the countries along the “Belt and Road”, as well as domestic iron & steel production capacity adjustment and market trends.
Also present at the meeting were Li Yiren, Yang Guiqing, Yan Xiujun, Guo Jinhong, and Liu Juan from HBIS, as well as Zhang Mengxing, Xing Yan, Gao Xiaoyu, Liu Qingchun, and Shao Bo from relevant departments of the headquarters of China Minmetals, MCC, Minmetals International, and Minmetals Development, respectively.
