China Minmetals Corporation 2020-10-23

On October 18, Tang Fuping, Chairman and Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, held a working conference in Beijing with Hu Changsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee. The two sides conducted in-depth and friendly exchanges on further strengthening cooperation.

Tang Fuping welcomed the delegation led by Hu Changsheng and expressed gratitude for the long-term support of authorities of Fujian Province and Xiamen City for the development of China Minmetals' enterprises in those places before he gave a brief introduction to China Minmetals. Tang Fuping pointed out that in December 2015, China Minmetals, after the strategic reorganization of two Fortune 500 companies, the former China Minmetals and Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC), became the first pilot state-owned capital investment company in China's metal mining industry. China Minmetals has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and always kept in mind and actively implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's key speeches on the reform of state-owned enterprises. By adhering to the strategic positioning of being "the main force of resource guarantee, national metallurgical construction team and overall service provider of the industry", China Minmetals has opened up the entire industrial chain layout from resource acquisition, prospecting, design, construction, operation, circulation and deep processing in the global metal mineral industry to build a world-class metal mineral enterprise group. At the same time, it has focused on metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade logistics, finance and real estate finance to build and consolidate the business system featured by "four beams and eight columns". In terms of metal mining, China Minmetals owns world-class mines such as the Las Bombas copper mine in Peru, the Dugald River zinc mine in Australia, and the RAMU nickel and cobalt mine in Papua New Guinea. It vigorously integrates China's advantageous metal resources such as tungsten, antimony, and rare earths, and has the world's largest alloy output. In terms of metallurgical construction, it firmly occupies 90% of the domestic metallurgical construction market share and 60% of the global counterpart; therefore, it has formed an absolute controlling influence in leading the transformation and upgrading of China's steel industry. In terms of real estate finance, China Minmetals is one of the few central state-owned enterprises with full financial licenses and ranks among the top financial holding companies of central state-owned enterprises. Its real estate business fully relied on the advantages of the two major real estate brands approved by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, i.e., Minmetals Land Limited and MCC Real Estate Group, to implement differentiated positioning and develop specialty products, with the market reputation continuing to increase. China Minmetals currently ranks 92nd in the Fortune Global 500. In particular, in the face of the adverse effects of COVID-19 epidemic this year, China Minmetals has taken the initiative and continued to maintain a good momentum of development.

Tang Fuping emphasized that as a special economic zone in China, Xiamen had a favorable geographical location and policy advantages and was one of the important windows for opening up. China Minmetals' operations of shareholding companies, metallurgical construction projects, and related fund projects in Xiamen under planning are all developing in a sound and orderly manner. It is hoped that China Minmetals will cooperate with Xiamen in trade, logistics, transportation, infrastructure, finance, real estate development, environmental protection and other fields to turn advantages of both parties into a resource agglomeration effect. By expanding new growth points, forming new development momentum, continuously stimulating new driving forces, the two sides will realize sustainable mutual benefit and common development.

Hu Changsheng appreciated Tang Fuping's hospitality and China Minmetals' achievements in recent years, and agreed on Tang Fuping's cooperation proposal. Hu Changsheng pointed out that China Minmetals had achieved a successful transformation after years of development, that its achievements in all walks of life are obvious to all, and that China Minmetals was one of the central state-owned enterprise partners to which Xiamen City and Fujian Province attach great importance. At present, the government of Xiamen has thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and the Party Central Committee's decisions and deployments. By unswervingly increasing investment for development, and making every effort to promote "greater improvement and development in and beyond Xiamen Island", Xiamen continues to promote technological innovation to form a synergy for high-quality development in all aspects. It is hoped that China Minmetals will further increase its investment and expand cooperation in Xiamen. The Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and government of Xiamen will go all out to provide broader development space and provide support for China Minmetals and Xiamen's high-quality economic and social development.

The two parties also conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on existing business models and topics of common concern.

Huang Qiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, and Wang Shilei, Vice President and Party Group Member of China Minmetals, were present at the meeting. Relevant personnel from Xiamen, including Liao Huasheng, Gong Jianyang, Lai Jianzhou, Zhang Zhihong, Huang Heming, Wang Yueping and Li Yunxiang, as well as leaders from China Minmetals Headquarters and its directly-managed enterprises, including Bai Xiaohu, Xing Yan, Li Zhongze, Xiong Xiaobing, Wei Tao, Shao Bo, Yang Shangping, Wu Shaohui and Xu Bing, attended the meeting.
