On October 21, Mr. Tang Fuping, China Minmetals' Chairman and Party Group Secretary, met with the visiting group headed by Chen Shaorong, Mayor of Tongren City. Both sides had in-depth discussions on strengthening exchanges and cooperation as well as the efforts for winning the war against poverty.

Tang Fuping extended warm welcome to the visiting group headed by Chen Shaorong and outlined the achievements of China Minmetals in recent years. Tang said that China Minmetals, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, focused on the development goal of building itself into a world-class mineral product corporate. Tang added that for this reason, China Minmetals maximized its investment platform of state capital, constantly consolidated its development foundation and continuously improved development quality, thus building up prominent strengths in technologies, talents and funds in the fields of mineral product, metallurgical engineering, trade, logistics, finance and the real estate. Tang pointed out that as a result, its comprehensive strength was enhanced and the development returns were markedly increased.

Tang noted that Tongren City was endowed with good environment, convenient transportation and distinctive geography, and that Dejiang County and Yanhe County were targeted poor areas where China Minmetals poverty alleviation efforts focused on. In recent years, China Minmetals has earnestly implemented the guiding principles embodied in the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping about poverty alleviation, and followed the policies and plans made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to help poverty alleviation in Dejiang and Yanhe counties. Under a variety of concrete measures such as fund input, project development and talent support, China Minmetals contributed a lot to poverty alleviation as well as economic and social development in Dejiang and Yanhe counties. Tang said that after lifting Dejiang and Yanhe counties out of poverty, China Minmetals would follow the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping about maintaining responsibility, assistance, policy and regulation, and consolidate the achievements made in poverty alleviation, and work hard for the effective integration of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, with an aim to contribute more to economic and social development of Tongren City. Tang wished that both sides would further strengthen communication and exchanges from the perspective of strategic cooperation, fully tap the potential for cooperation in development of manganese ore, manganese-based new energy material and infrastructure, and explore new ways of cooperation to improve cooperation level, and strive to find more cooperation fields to achieve win-win cooperation and common development.

Chen Shaorong expressed sincere thanks to Tang Fuping for his warm reception and to the long-term, strong support of China Minmetals for Tongren City, especially for Dejiang County and Yanhe County. He pointed out that in recent years, under the targeted assistance of China Minmetals, significant progress had been made in poverty alleviation of Tongren City, that among ten poor counties in Tongren City, nine poor counties had been lifted out of poverty, and that everything was ready for Yanhe County to be lifted out of poverty, making Yanhe County another member of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. At present, Tongren is engaged in implementing the three critical strategies of Great Efforts for Poverty Alleviation, Big Data Technology and Eco-system, and vigorously promoting industrial structural transformation as well as economic and social sustainable development. For this reason, Tongren City sincerely welcomes the central state-owned enterprises with strong comprehensive strengths and complete industrial systems like China Minmetals to engage in economic and social development of Tongren City. He wished that both sides would strengthen communication in the key fields such as exploration and utilization of manganese ore, industrial cluster of new function materials of Dalong Economic and Technological Development Zone and lithium battery material. He also hoped that both sides would work together to achieve the implementation of cooperation projects to raise the partnership to a new level and jointly promote sustainable and sound economic and social development of Tongren City.

Dong Mingjun, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Yan Xiaoqing, Member of the Standing Committee of Tongren Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor, Liu Lan, Deputy Mayor, and other leaders including Ma Jiehua, Yang Changfei, An Xiaorong, Pu Zhang, Zhang Feng, Long Qunyue, Hu Zhiyong, Qian Gang, Cai Jiang, Tian Qiong and Tang Yong.
