On April 16, Mr. Tang Fuping, China Minmetals’ Party Group Secretary and Chairman, led a delegation to Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Site for field study of the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC). They reviewed the essence of General Xi Jinping’s important speech in his visit to the site and studied the grand revolutionary history of the CPC Central Committee in Xiangshan, Beijing. China Minmetals’ executives Mr. Dong Mingjun, Mr. Jiao Jian, and Mr. Lu Weidong were also in the delegation.
The delegation first visited revolutionary sites such as Shuangqing Villa, Laiqing Pavilion, where Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and other then leaders of the CPC Central Committee had worked and lived, and revisited the older generation of revolutionaries’ modest life, arduous struggle, broad vision, and selfless dedication.
After that, the delegation visited an exhibition on the history of the CPC Central Committee during that period at Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall. By watching the pictures and historical records in the five parts of the exhibition, namely “Moving to Beijing,” “Stationing in Xiangshan,” “Continuing the command for the liberation of the nation,” “Preparing for the founding of the PRC,” and “Staying true to our original aspiration, keeping our mission firmly in mind, and carrying on fighting,” they learned the details of the extraordinary period when the CPC led the War of Liberation (1945 – 1949) to the nationwide victory and the New Democratic Revolution (1919 – 1949) to the final triumph and prepared for the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
Inspired by the visit, Mr. Tang spelt out explicit requirements for China Minmetals in promoting China’s revolutionary spirit and deepening the study of the history of the CPC. He noted that Party organizations at all levels of and all Party members and cadres at China Minmetals (a state-owned enterprise) should study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on admiring and honoring revolutionary heroes and martyrs and the essence of his important speech in his visit to Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Site and uphold these instructions thoroughly in studying the history of the CPC. Revolutionary resources should be leveraged and model figures should be set up to encourage honoring and admiring martyrs, keeping our original aspiration and working for more achievements. Meanwhile, entity responsibility should be properly assumed; the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Heroes and Martyrs should be thoroughly enforced, and stronger management should be imposed on public opinions and communication to prevent and eradicate any wrongful speech that defames or desecrates martyrs. Besides, Party organizations and members should strengthen belief, take heart, learn lessons, and draw energy from the older generation of revolutionaries’ spirit, aspiration, working style, and great achievements. In this way, China Minmetals will receive strong spiritual momentum towards the goals of building a world-class metal miner, rising to challenges and making breakthroughs in the 14th Five-year Plan, and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with outstanding performance.
All participants in the field study agreed that the tour was an impressive education session in Party spirit. Although the CPC Central Committee stationed in Xiangshan for only half a year, that period was of great significance in the history of the CPC and the PRC. We should remember that history and inherit and promote the older generation of revolutionaries’ strategy of thorough revolution, their modesty, prudence, diligence and perseverance and their principle that the Party is built for the public and that the Party exercises state power for the people, which will guide us in assuming new responsibility and making new achievements in the future.
The delegation was accompanied by directors of member units of the Office of China Minmetals Leading Group for Study of the CPC History.
