On August 8, Weng Zuliang, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, and Guo Wenqing, President and Deputy Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, held a meeting with Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on further strengthening the cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments, and jointly witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement between China Minmetals and the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

At the meeting, Yin Li said that in recent years, Fujian had always adhered to the important concepts and major practices of General Secretary Xi Jinping when he worked in Fujian, and carried forward the fine traditions of “doing it right away and doing practical work”. He also indicated that the government continued to improve the business environment and promote high-quality development with concrete actions, which resulted in a steady progress in economic and social development. Based on the existing good cooperation and broad cooperation space, the two sides have a strong willingness to further cooperate with each other. Yin Li hoped that China Minmetals would give full play to its comprehensive advantages, deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation in the fields of mineral resource exploration & development, new energy & new material industry development, bulk commodity trade & infrastructure building, and promote green, efficient use of mineral resources to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

Weng Zuliang expressed his gratitude for the support of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and People’s Government of Fujian Province to China Minmetals over the past years. He also briefed on the business development status of China Minmetals during recent years. He said that China Minmetals had always been following the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and taking an initiative to implement the new development philosophy and to integrate itself into the new development pattern. He also indicated that China Minmetals had firmly undertaken the mission of serving and reinvigorating the country through metal mining industry and worked hard to build itself into a world-class metal and mining enterprise with global competitiveness. In recent years, China Minmetals has witnessed a steady progress by strengthening the cooperation between the central state-owned enterprises and local governments. In 2021, China Minmetals gained operating revenue of over RMB 850 billion, ranking 58th in the 2022 Fortune Global 500 List, with its total assets being over RMB 1 trillion.

Weng Zuliang said that at present, China Minmetals was accelerating the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and strengthening the cooperation between the central state-owned enterprises and local governments. China Minmetals and Fujian have established profound friendship in their long-term cooperation. China Minmetals will actively participate in the development of Fujian, and expand its strategic layout of industries and investment in Fujian so as to contribute to the high-quality economic and social development of Fujian, and push the cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments to a new level.

After the meeting, Weng Zuliang and Guo Wenqing, together with Yin Li and Zhao Long, jointly witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement between China Minmetals and the People’s Government of Fujian Province. According to the agreement, both sides will adhere to the principle of mutual complementarity, resource sharing, mutual benefit and shared development, and give full play to their respective advantages to boost the all-round strategic cooperation in more fields including mineral resources exploration & development, industrial digitalization & intelligence, new energy & new materials, bulk commodity trade & port logistics base building, transportation & municipal infrastructure building, integration of industry and city and urban renewal, financial business.

Before the meeting, Weng Zuliang, Guo Wenqing and their delegation also went to the Blessing Road in Jiaoye Park to retrace the route taken by General Secretary Xi Jinping when he visited Fuzhou on March 24, 2021, and studied and digested the rich connotation of Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization and the new development concept so as to feel the powerful strength of Xi’s thoughts during their tour.

Senior officials of the People’s Government of Fujian Province including Guo Ningning and Xu Xielin, and leaders of China Minmetals including Liu Caiming, Jiao Jian, and Wang Shilei attended the meeting. Other participants included relevant officials of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and People’s Government of Fujian Province, and leaders of China Minmetals’ head offices and directly-managed enterprises.
