On the morning of August 16, China Minmetals' 2023 Pre-employment Training was officially launched at Minmetals Plaza. Weng Zuliang, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, attended the opening ceremony and gave a lecture to over 9,000 new employees this year. At this event, he expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to all of them, and put forward his ardent expectations.

Weng Zuliang pointed out that since state-owned enterprises were the important material and political foundation of the socialism with Chinese characteristics and Chinese path to modernization, they should act as the pillars and vanguards in implementing the new development concept and advancing high-quality development, and exert their functions of scientific and technological innovation, industry control and security support. The development history of China Minmetals is a history of sharing the same destiny with the Party and the country, and of serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry. On the new journey, China Minmetals will insist on following the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. To be specific, it should also take the "Five Core Principles" as the action guide, value orientation and enterprise spirit, adopt the "Five Action Plans" and "Five Types of China Minmetals" as key means, and regard the progress index assessment system as an important guarantee mechanism. Besides, it will continue to improve its core competitiveness and enhance its core functions, and work to build a world-class powerhouse with global competitiveness in the metals and minerals industry.

To the vigorous new employees, Weng Zuliang put forward four points of expectations for their work and life after combining with his own experience: First, they should forge the ideals and faiths of being loyal to the Party and serving the country, and always bear in mind "the country's most fundamental interests". They also should follow the instructions and guidance of the Party, and vow to practice China Minmetals' original aspiration & mission of serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry. Second, they should cultivate and practice the sense of responsibility, polish their skills and actively assume the responsibilities designated by China Minmetals. They should be vanguards and new forces in the front line of practice. Third, they should carry forward the spirit of defying hardships and the fine tradition of permanent struggle, beef up the ability to fight, and refine the will to fight so as to open up a new space of career development through tenacious struggles. Fourth, they should cultivate the moral integrity of self-restraint and prudence, and always have a sense of awe and gratitude. They should be self-disciplined, introspective, prudent and cautious, and follow great virtue, public virtue and strict personal virtue.

The new employees expressed their thoughts that Chairman Weng's lecture was inspiring and encouraging, and that they would bear in mind his remarks, assume the mission, work hard and contribute their youthful strength to build China Minmetals into a world-class enterprise.

The opening ceremony was held on site as well as via a video link. This event was attended by relevant leaders of China Minmetals' head offices and directly-managed enterprises at the main venue and 133 video-conferencing sites. After the three-day centralized training, the new employees will be dispatched to grassroots-level positions for one-year practical training.
