In the afternoon of September 7, Weng Zuliang, the Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, had a meeting with Fan Shaojun, the Vice Mayor of Tianjin, and his entourage. The two parties made in-depth discussions concerning the reinforcement of cooperation.

Weng extended warm welcome to Fan and his entourage, expressed thanks for the support that Tianjin municipal government had provided for the development of China Minmetals in Tianjin, and briefly reported the achievements of China Minmetals in recent years. He said that the company has been adhering to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and fulfilling the mission of “serving and reinvigorating the country through metals and minerals industry”. For the first time in the world, the company has established a whole industry chain ranging from resource acquisition to exploration, engineering, construction, mining, mineral separation, smelting, processing, trade and logistics. With powerful technical strengths, the company is committed to become a leading metal resource supplier and a national player in metallurgical development and operations. In 2022, the business revenue of China Minmetals was close to RMB 900 billion, a new record in history. Since the beginning of this year, the company has maintained favorable development trend, and become ever more successful in its high-quality development. The company has implemented the strategy of coordinated development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and attached high importance on the strategic cooperation with Tianjin. The bilateral cooperation has already borne bountiful fruits in recent years. Next, China Minmetals will carry out all-round cooperation with Tianjin, exploit the company’s advantages in metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade, logistics, finance, real estate and other fields, expand and reinforce concrete cooperation between the two parties, and actively take part in the “ten actions” of Tianjin, thereby realizing a win-win result.

Fan expressed thanks for the support that China Minmetals had provided for the economic and social development of Tianjin, and briefly reported the development milestones of Tianjin in recent years. He said that Tianjin is implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress. In the framework of the “one base and three zones” functional positioning, as well as the strategy of coordinated development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Tianjin is pushing forward the “Tianjin-Binhai” two-city development and deploying resources to implement the “ten actions” plan. Tianjin attaches high importance on the strategic cooperation with China Minmetals. Fan also expressed wishes of reinforcing bilateral communication and cooperation, exploiting advantages of each party, pushing forward all-round cooperation, supporting the relocation of non-capital functions from Beijing, and carrying forward the concrete implementation of coordinated development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Tianjin will provide better services and more favorable business environment. Fan also invited China Minmetals to take part in the China Mining Conference and Exhibition 2023.

The two parties also made discussions on topics of common concern.

Also presented at the meeting was Wang Shilei, the Vice President and Party Group Member of China Minmetals. Other attendees of the meeting included responsible persons of relevant departments and companies of Tianjin, as well as responsible persons of relevant departments of China Minmetals headquarters.
