On the afternoon of December 4th, Weng Zuliang, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, held a work discussion with Zeng Bin, Chief Scientist of China Minmetals and newly elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
On behalf of China Minmetal's Party Group, Weng Zuliang extended warm congratulations to Zeng Bin on his election as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Weng also expressed gratitude to Zeng Bin for his dedicated research and significant scientific achievements in the field of structural engineering, as well as for his contributions to the development of China Minmetals. He pointed out that the emergence of an academician among the first batch of Chief Scientists at China Minmetals is a joyful event for both the company's scientific and technological talent team and China Minmetals, as it showcases the positive development trend of the company. This further strengthens the confidence and determination of China Minmetals' scientific and technological talent team. Currently, China Minmetals is deeply implementing the important principles outlined by General Secretary Xi Jinping in his speech at the CPC Central Conference on Talent-Related Work. Taking the strategy on developing a quality workforce and the creation of Innovative Minmetals as key initiatives, the company aims to drive industrial innovation through technological innovation, accelerate the technological innovation mechanism reforms with a focus on the Central Research Institute. Besides, the company notably relies on a broad community of scientists led by academician to shoulder responsibilities, overcome challenges, and provide technological and intellectual support. Weng hoped that Academician Zeng will always bear in mind the important requirements set by General Secretary Xi Jinping for academicians to be exemplary in "four aspects." He also encouraged Academician Zeng to keep in mind the country's most fundamental interests, strive to explore the forefront of science and technology, and take the lead in breaking through critical core technologies, so as to better shoulder the great responsibilities entrusted by the nation. Weng expressed his hope that Zeng could fully leverage his mentorship role, exert influence in his research field, and contribute to the cultivation of outstanding innovative talents and high-level innovation teams urgently needed by China Minmetals. This, in turn, is expected to inject innovative momentum into the high-quality development of China Minmetals.
Zeng Bin expressed his gratitude for the support from the Party and the country, as well as the care and support from China Minmetals over the years. He stated that being elected as an academician is a new starting point for him. He pledged not to forget his original aspiration, to always bear in mind his mission, to be courageous in innovating and breaking new ground. With practical actions, he aims to contribute even more significantly to China Minmetals' commitment to serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry.
Leaders of China Minmetals, including Wang Jiezhi, Zhu Kebing, and Chen Jianguang attended this discussion. Other participants include heads of relevant headquarters departments and heads from the unit where Academician Zeng worked.
