China Minmetals Corporation 2024-07-12

On the afternoon of July 9, 2024, Weng Zuliang, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, visited China First Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. (CFMCC) in Wuhan.

Accompanied by Yu Zhicheng, Secretary of the Qingshan District Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Qingshan District, Zuliang Weng and his delegation first visited the former site of the heavy-lift wharf at Qingshan River Beach, where President Xi Jinping conducted an inspection on April 26, 2018. They observed the ecological restoration and improvement efforts along the Yangtze River shoreline and reviewed President Xi's important directive on "stepping up conservation of the Yangtze River and stopping its over development". Following this, Weng visited CFMCC's enterprise exhibition hall and operations command center. By virtue of this, he gained an in-depth understanding of the construction of the digital enterprise brain, technological research, and commercialization of achievements. He then put forward the following three requirements for the next step.

First, CFMCC should speed up digital transformation and strengthen risk control. This involves accelerating the transition from informatization to digitalization and promoting the integration of multiple streams of development. With a focus on risk control and leveraging treasury management, it is essential to systematically identify and categorize various risks and their manifestations in the business management process. CFMCC should develop models to create application scenarios and use digital tools, such as AI, to achieve real-time data transmission, timely risk warnings, and intelligent problem analysis. The company should also learn from the digital construction experience and practices of other enterprises within the Group to advance the modernization of its industrial and governance systems through digitalization.

Second, CFMCC should improve its data lineage to form core advantages. The company needs to further clarify its strengths and areas of expertise, intensify efforts to ensure market consolidation, and avoid "starting early but arriving late". By seizing opportunities for technological breakthroughs, it should thoroughly analyze technological application scenarios to expand the spillover, transplantation, and expansion effects of its technological advantages. Building on a comprehensive technical lineage, it should further refine its product, market, and industry lineages while enhancing intellectual property protection. Additionally, CFMCC should elevate its brand awareness and management concepts, focusing on leveraging the brand effect and market expansion effect of its flagship projects.

Third, CFMCC should strengthen its political responsibility and enforce strict corporate governance. It is crucial to further enhance political consciousness, maintain a sober-minded political stance, and firmly shoulder political responsibilities. The company must uphold a culture of strict discipline, enforce rigorous measures, and create a climate of accountability over the long term. What's more, it must keep on striving with endless energy toward the goal of combatting corruption and building a clean enterprise, so as to promote the deep integration of full and rigorous governance over the Party and strict corporate governance.

Weng also visited CFMCC's Industrial Printmaking Art Museum, where he learned about the history, artistic achievements, and creation process of industrial printmaking. He emphasized the importance of using industrial printmaking, a unique cultural medium of the company, to vividly showcase the development history and cultural heritage of China Minmetals.

Zhang Zhenmin, Chief of Discipline Inspection Committee and Party Group Member, accompanied Weng Zuliang during the visit. Participants also included heads of relevant headquarter departments of China Minmetals.
