China Minmetals Corporation 2024-07-12

On the morning of July 10, 2024, Weng Zuliang, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, attended the Symposium of China Minmetals' Subsidiaries in Hubei.

At the symposium, Weng Zuliang successively listened to the work reports of three subsidiaries in Hubei, namely, WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Ltd., Wuhan Surveying-geotechnical Research Institute Co., Ltd. of MCC (WSGRI) and China First Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. (CFMCC). By virtue of this, he knew about the details of these subsidiaries' efforts in implementing the arrangements of the Party Group of China Minmetals and promoting the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of metallurgical construction business. Weng recognized the achievements made by its subsidiaries in Hubei in the reform and development. He also pointed out that the three subsidiaries had held a resolute attitude, adopted pragmatic measures, and taken steady steps in the work of "stabilizing growth, empowering industry, preventing risks, ensuring safety, improving quality and reducing costs", demonstrating the fighting spirit of cadres and employees. The subsidiaries should continue to focus on the overall planning of "playing a game of chess", and make use of systems thinking. They should adhere to the problem-oriented, result-oriented and effect-oriented principle, clarify tasks and subdivide goals. On the premise of compliance management and under the support of digitalization, they should strive to create integrated advantages, make enterprises stronger, better and bigger, and win the initiative in competition and development.

With respect to the key tasks of enterprise transformation and upgrading, Weng put forward four specific requirements: First, they should consolidate the foundation for transformation and sort out product lineages. They should further define the positioning and development direction of enterprises, create competitive advantages, and ensure to "know exactly what is going on and clearly understand the situation". Second, they should grasp the key to transformation and focus on enhancing core functions and improving core competitiveness. They should also make good use of their own resource endowments, expand application scenarios, and seize the commanding heights by focusing on the industrial chain, deploying the innovation chain, optimizing the supply chain and extending the value chain. Third, they should adhere to the policy of transformation and handle the relationship between various businesses. They should also lay out new tracks on the basis of stabilizing the fundamentals of traditional businesses, and achieve stability while seeking progress. Fourth, they should provide guarantee for transformation, further improve the system of full and rigorous governance over the Party, and focus on the full chain of responsibility, full cycle management and full coverage of objects. Besides, they should promote the in-depth development of full and rigorous governance over the Party and strict corporate governance from five aspects, i.e. the organizational system, the education system, the regulatory system, the institutional system and the responsibility system.

Weng Zuliang encouraged everyone to go all out to complete the annual tasks and make new and greater contributions to building China Minmetals into a world-class enterprise.

The symposium was chaired by Chen Jianguang, Party Group Member and Senior Vice President of China Minmetals, Party Committee Secretary of MCC, Chairman of MCC and Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. Wang Xingquan, Party Group Member and Senior Vice President of China Minmetals, attended the event, and participants also included heads of relevant headquarter departments and subsidiaries of China Minmetals in Hubei.
