On September 27, 2024, Chen Dexin, President and Deputy Party Group Secretary of China Minmetals, visited MCC Tongsin Resources Ltd. ("MCCT" for short), and extended his regards to frontline cadres and employees.
Chen Dexin first connected via video to greet frontline cadres and employees working at MCCT's overseas subsidiaries and project teams in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Eritrea. He inquired about their work and living conditions, praised their enthusiasm and dedication, and expressed his gratitude to them for their commitment and hard work under challenging conditions, as well as their contributions to China Minmetals' high-quality development. After urging them to prioritize safety, mutual support, and teamwork, Chen extended warm National Day greetings to all employees.
After listening to reports on MCCT's operations and project progress, Chen emphasized that MCCT played a crucial role in China Minmetals' strategy of focusing on its primary responsibilities and key business of metals and minerals and advancing high-quality development. He noted significant responsibilities and honorable mission of the company, and said that China Minmetals would pay high attention to and fully support the company's development. Chen then put forward six key requirements. First, MCCT must accelerate the development of key projects in line with China Minmetals' work plans and requirements, and continue to enhance its core functions. Second, MCCT should fully leverage China Minmetals' strengths in the whole industry chain of metals and minerals, strengthen policy support and institutional guarantee, and use technological innovation to drive industrial innovation, so as to constantly improve MCCT's core competitiveness. Third, MCCT should accumulate experience in the long-term operation and management of overseas projects and actively explore an effective model for managing China Minmetals' overseas mining resources, thus continuously improving its management and control of overseas projects. Fourth, MCCT should fully leverage its role as a talent cultivation platform in overseas projects and expedite the development of a versatile workforce with an international business operation perspective. Fifth, Chen noted that the support functions of both the corporate and subsidiary headquarters must be strengthened. MCCT should establish a long-term mechanism for employee career development and enhance support for overseas staff, with the goal of improving overseas working and living conditions to ensure the well-being of both employees abroad and their families at home. Sixth, MCCT must adhere to the principle of putting people and life first. To be specific, it should continuously improve health care and security for overseas employees to ensure safety of their lives and property.
