China Minmetals held the 2025 Working Conference on Scientific and Technological Innovation to systematically summarize the achievements in 2024 scientific and technological innovation and arrange the key tasks for 2025. Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Wang Jiezh, Deputy Party Group Secretary and Director of China Minmetals, presided over the conference. Zhu Kebing, Party Group Member and Senior Vice President of China Minmetals, presented the work report on science and technology innovation , and members of the leading group were present at the conference.
In his speech titled Focusing on the “Five Focuses” to Deepen the Reform of the Science and Technology System and Mechanisms, Promoting High-Quality Development to a New Level, Chen Dexin pointed out that China Minmetals deeply studied and implemented the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on scientific and technological innovation, carefully carrying out the requirements outlined at the Central State-owned Enterprises Technological Innovation Conference. China Minmetals has made substantial progress in advancing its innovation-driven development. With 19 research and design institutes and 47 national-level scientific and technological platforms, China Minmetals boasts a unique scientific research “treasure mine,” positioning its technological strength among the top central enterprises.
It is essential to strengthen the sense of mission, responsibility, and urgency in technological innovation, and to treat the advancement of technological innovation as a major political responsibility and historical mission. The focus should be on building national strategic scientific and technological strength, leading the way and setting an example in advancing high-level technological self-reliance and strength, constructing a modern industrial system, and developing new types of productive forces. It is important to optimize and improve the technological innovation system around the "Five Focuses," further advance reforms in the science and technology system and mechanisms, and establish a development pattern where technological innovation leads industrial upgrading. It is also crucial to uphold the Party’s comprehensive leadership over technological innovation work, systematically plan in areas such as the positioning and planning of technological industries, management and organizational systems, and institutional support, and create an innovation ecosystem that fosters collaboration across the entire group.
The meeting awarded representatives of the 2024 China Minmetals Science and Technology Awards, presented appointment letters to the newly appointed chief technical experts and chairmen of the Central Research Institute’s professional committees, and organized the signing of responsibility letters by internal innovation consortiums of China Minmetals.
Approximately 1,100 participants attended the meeting onsite or via video link, including non-leadership executives, and heads of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team, relevant personnel from various departments of head offices, academicians, China Minmetals’ Chief Experts, Chairmen of the Central Research Institute’s Professional Committees, directly-managed enterprises, key subsidiaries, 19 research and design institutes, winners representatives of the science and technology awards, and representatives of science and technology workers.
