On March 31, 2025, Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, met with Lu Dongliang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor. The two sides exchanged views on deepening the cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments. Xu Jiqing, Party Group Member and Senior Vice President of China Minmetals, attended the meeting.
Chen Dexin expressed gratitude to the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Government for their long-standing support of China Minmetals and provided a brief overview of the company's history and development. He noted that since its founding in 1950, China Minmetals has evolved from a specialized foreign trade entity into a globally competitive metals and minerals conglomerate. Its business now spans metals & minerals, metallurgical engineering, technology development, trade & logistics, financial services and real estate, forming a whole industry chain advantage in the metals and minerals sector. In recent years, China Minmetals has remained committed to its mission of "serving and reinvigorating the country through the metals and minerals industry". The company has focused on its core operations, industrial positioning, and resource acquisition, steadily advancing key projects such as the China Salt Lake initiative and the acquisition of Brazilian nickel assets, thereby consolidating its positive growth trajectory. Chen emphasized China Minmetals' strong interest in collaborating with Shanxi. Building on existing partnerships, he proposed leveraging mutual strengths to expand cooperation in mineral resources, non-ferrous metals, green mining, and technological innovation, aiming to elevate bilateral cooperation to new heights.
Lu Dongliang highlighted Shanxi's status as a province rich in both energy and mineral resources, particularly bauxite, iron ore, magnesium, graphite, and copper reserves. He underscored the vast potential for collaboration with China Minmetals and expressed hope that both sides would deepen cooperation in mineral exploration, green mine development, and technological innovation through enhanced communication and comprehensive partnerships, achieving new milestones in the cooperation between central state-owned enterprises and local governments.
Officials from the Shanxi Provincial Government, leaders of China Minmetals' head offices and directly-managed enterprises attended the meeting.
