On December 10, Zhu Kebing, Deputy Party Group Secretary, Director and President of China Minmetals, visited Liaoning Academy of Materials and held working talks with Lu Ke, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the laboratory. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on such key areas as the R&D of key metal material technologies, the collaborative innovation of the industrial chain and the development of resource guarantee capabilities. Meng Huaqiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jinzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Jinzhou, attended the meeting.
Zhu Kebing expressed gratitude to Lu Ke for his warm reception and briefly introduced the global layout, industrial advantages of China Minmetals in metal mineral resources, as well as the current technical challenges and development needs. He pointed out that as a metal mineral enterprise group with global influence, China Minmetals has formed the development advantages of the entire industrial chain integrating resource exploration, design and construction, development and operation, smelting and processing, trade and logistics, scientific and technological research and development, and financial capital. China Minmetals hopes to deepen cooperation with top scientific research institutions. By leveraging the cutting-edge R&D platform and innovation strengths of Liaoning Academy of Materials, it will jointly tackle the bottleneck problems of high-end materials, elevate the level of intensive processing and value transformation of advantageous resources, and pursue breakthroughs in technologies related to scarce resource substitution, reduction and recycling, thereby jointly serving national strategies.
Lu Ke extended a warm welcome to Zhu Kebing and his delegation, and briefly outlined the basic profile of Liaoning Academy of Materials. He said that the laboratory is a new type of R&D institution established by the Liaoning Provincial Government. As an important part of the national material science and technology innovation system, the laboratory focuses on the original innovation in materials science and breakthroughs in critical technologies, and is committed to building a core support engine for the high-quality development of the industry. At present, the laboratory is advancing forward-looking layouts in three strategic directions: material digitalization, material recycling and critical element substitution, while proactively aligning with major national needs. It is hoped that the laboratory will conduct all-round and in-depth cooperation with China Minmetals in resource sharing, platform co-construction and project co-research, so as to jointly establish an efficient transformation chain of "resources - materials - applications" and achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development.
Relevant personnel of Liaoning Academy of Materials and China Minmetals attended the talks.
