On February 9, as the Spring Festival approached, Zhu Kebing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Director, and General Manager of China Minmetals, visited the Qarhan production area of China Salt Lake in Golmud, Qinghai Province, to conduct research and workplace safety inspections, and to extend his greetings to frontline employees and cadres.

Zhu Kebing visited key frontline sites involved in production, scientific research, and safety operations, including Salt Lake Magnesia, the Emergency Rescue Center, Salt Lake Yuanpin, Lanke Lithium, and the Qarhan Salt Lake Pilot Base. He gained an in-depth understanding of the companies’ technological advancements, safety and environmental protection efforts, project construction progress, emergency response capabilities, and the working and living conditions of employees. During the visit, he engaged in cordial conversations with frontline employees and managers, fully affirming their dedication to working on the plateau and their pragmatic, down-to-earth work style.

Zhu Kebing stressed the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives regarding the work of central enterprises, fully act on the guiding principles from the 20th National Congress of the CPC and its plenary sessions, and diligently carry out the annual work conference directives of China Minmetals. He called on all to effectively fulfill the strategic role of the “national team for resource security and the main force in supporting key ‘Two New’ initiatives”. Efforts must be tested and progress driven through tangible achievements in accelerating the development of a world-class salt lake industrial base. He underscored the importance of persisting in promoting the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and scientifically coordinating the major initiative to overcome challenges in the integrated metal magnesium project. Cost control for magnesium products must be taken as both the starting point and the ultimate goal of all work, with close attention paid to the core issues of electricity costs and chlorine gas utilization. The pace of scaled-up experiments, pilot tests, and industrialization efforts should be well managed to unlock the critical link in transforming technological achievements at the pilot base, thereby achieving a precise match between input and output. An unwavering commitment to a high-quality development path that is green, low-carbon, intensive, and circular is required. This involves scientifically protecting and comprehensively utilizing salt lake resources, optimizing and upgrading processes and equipment, steadily enhancing the competitiveness of the salt lake industry, and making every effort to ensure the stable supply of core products such as potassium and lithium, thus making solid contributions to serving the national strategic landscape. A work safety management system centered on the implementation of the work safety responsibility system must be established. Responsibilities for work safety must be clearly defined and strictly enforced, with in-depth efforts to identify and rectify hazards. The emergency command system shall be continuously optimized, professional emergency rescue teams strengthened, and multiple measures taken to weave a strong safety protection network.
