Chen Dexin meets with Rio Tinto CEO Simon Trott

On the morning of March 24, Chen Dexin, Chairman of China Minmetals, met with Simon Trott, CEO of Rio Tinto. The two executives discussed ways to strengthen their cooperation further. Bold Baata, Chief Commercial Officer of Rio Tinto, and Xu Jiqing, Deputy General Manager of China Minmetals, attended the meeting.

Chen Dexin welcomed Simon Trott and his delegation, and thanked Rio Tinto for their long-standing trust and support of China Minmetals. He noted that Rio Tinto is a key partner of China Minmetals and that the two sides have established a robust, high-level communication mechanism. This has enabled them to continuously deepen their cooperation, delivering fruitful results in areas including iron ore trade, screening and blending, geological exploration and engineering construction. Looking ahead, the two sides should build on existing cooperation by fully leveraging their respective strengths in terms of resources, technology, markets and the industrial chain. They should actively seize opportunities for collaboration in areas such as mineral resource exploration and development, as well as engineering construction. Together, they should address market challenges and strive for mutually beneficial development of higher quality and at a higher level..

While introducing Rio Tinto’s strategic vision, business segments and development plans, Simon Trott acknowledged the achievements of past cooperation between the two sides. He noted that Rio Tinto and China Minmetals have a strong basis for cooperation and share similar development strategies. He expressed hope that the two companies would further strengthen their strategic trust, enhance regular communication and coordination, and deepen their practical cooperation in areas such as iron ore trade, resource exploration and project construction. He added that they should work together to achieve new progress and breakthroughs.
