Chen Dexin Holds Working Meeting with Tan Tieniu, CPC Secretary of Nanjing University ​

On April 7, Chen Dexin, Party Group Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, held a working meeting with Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the CPC Nanjing University Committee and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), to engage in in-depth discussions on further strengthening cooperation between the enterprise and the university. The meeting was attended by Shi Yi, CAS Academician and Professor at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering of Nanjing University; Suo Wenbin, Standing Committee Member of the CPC Nanjing University Committee and Vice President; Wang Jiezhi, Deputy Party Group Secretary and Director of China Minmetals; and Wang Xingquan, Member of the Party Group and Vice General Manager.

Chen Dexin expressed his gratitude to Nanjing University for its long-standing support and assistance to China Minmetals. He stated that China Minmetals has thoroughly implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions. Committed to its mission of ensuring the supply and security of national metal mineral resources, the company has evolved into a modern metallic minerals enterprise group characterized by five distinct features: "mineral resource-based, core business-integrated, structurally diversified, globally operated, and a mega-conglomerate." Over the years, China Minmetals and Nanjing University have established a close partnership, achieving positive results through pragmatic cooperation in fields such as core technology research, commercialization of scientific achievements, engineering construction, and talent cultivation. It is hoped that both parties will further strengthen their strategic cooperation, focusing on the construction of R&D platforms, the enhancement of R&D capabilities, the tackling of major technical challenges, the commercialization of scientific achievements, and the development of high-caliber scientific talent. By deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research, both sides aim to achieve high-level innovation synergy and collectively make new and greater contributions to the national strategic development.

Tan Tieniu thanked China Minmetals for its long-term trust and support and provided an overview of Nanjing University’s history and academic discipline development. He noted that China Minmetals possesses a solid industrial foundation, a complete industrial chain, and strong scientific capabilities, providing a firm basis and vast potential for bilateral cooperation. He hoped that both sides would further enhance communication and leverage their respective advantages to jointly promote the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation. By focusing on national strategic needs and conducting research on key core technologies, the partnership aims to continuously transform scientific findings into actual driving forces for industrial development, creating a new chapter in university-enterprise cooperation.

Prior to the meeting, both parties visited the China Minmetals Mineral and Metallurgical Scientific Achievements Exhibition and viewed the corporate promotional video. During the tour, the two sides exchanged views and discussed how collaborative innovation between universities and enterprises can empower the development of "new quality productive forces."

Relevant personnel from Nanjing University, as well as heads of relevant headquarters departments and directly managed enterprises of China Minmetals, attended the meeting.
