The second session of China Minmetals' Party Leadership and Management Cadre Training Programme and the first session of the Young Cadre Training Programme began on 13 April. Chen Dexin, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Minmetals, attended the opening ceremony and delivered the inaugural lecture to the participants. Cheng Yong, Deputy General Manager and member of the Party Leadership Group of China Minmetals, presided over the opening ceremony.
Chen Dexin emphasised that systematic training for leading cadres is a practical measure to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives on strengthening the cadre corps' capacity-building capabilities. This training is also crucial for China Minmetals to achieve its goal of becoming a world-class enterprise and develop a high-quality cadre corps capable of undertaking major responsibilities. We must prioritise the systematic study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and ensure that we study, believe in, understand and apply the thought. We must also set an example in terms of our firm conviction, pragmatism, sense of responsibility and self-discipline. We must integrate the education and learning on establishing and practicing a correct view of performance, properly handle the relationships between the present and the long term, between visible achievements and underlying achievements, and between one domain and the overall situation, so as to ensure that the view of performance remains free from deviation.
Chen Dexin emphasised the importance of earnestly studying and implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions regarding central state-owned enterprises. We must take on our responsibilities and mission with determination in order to better serve the Party and state's overall interests, support high-quality economic and social development, and improve and ensure people’s livelihoods. We must act as implementers, doers, and practitioners of the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee. We must focus wholeheartedly on our core business, make every effort to strengthen our core functions and enhance our core competitiveness, and accelerate our progress towards high-quality development. We must resolutely promote scientific and technological innovation, refine and strengthen our innovation system, and encourage the development of talent. We must continue to deepen reforms, address bottlenecks, obstacles, and challenges to drive reform forward. We must strike a balance between development and security, improve risk prevention and control, and continually strengthen the foundations of our development. We must persistently strengthen the Party building, using high-quality Party building to guide and safeguard high-quality development. We must take on great responsibilities with a strong sense of mission and demonstrate new achievements through significant accomplishments.
Chen Dexin emphasised that launching the first session of the Young Cadre Training Programme is a strategically significant long-term initiative, critical to ensuring the continuity and succession of China Minmetals' cause, and represents a milestone. Young cadres should develop their 'seven abilities', align their life aspirations with an unwavering commitment to building the company into a world-class metal mining enterprise, and venture to the project and market frontiers and critical battlefields to weather storms, gain experience and strengthen their resolve. Through organisational development and their own efforts, they should grow into pillars capable of shouldering great responsibilities and undertaking important tasks. Participating trainees should raise their ideological awareness, complete the 'three transformations' in their roles promptly, cherish learning opportunities and achieve tangible results, promote mutual learning and exchange to foster progress and strictly observe discipline and rules to create a conducive learning environment.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team at China Minmetals Corporation, as well as the principal leaders of the headquarters and the leaders of directly-managed enterprises and key subsidiaries. All trainees on the training programme were also present.
