On April 16, China Minmetals and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Dongguan. Chen Dexin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of China Minmetals, and Liang Hua, Chairman of Huawei, attended the signing and held talks. Duan Wenwu, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Chief Accountant of China Minmetals, and Jin Weifeng, Head of the Oil, Gas and Mining Systems Department, Huawei China Government and Enterprise Business, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties. China Enfei and MCC CISDI, subsidiaries of China Minmetals, signed separate agreements with Huawei respectively.
Chen Dexin expressed gratitude to Huawei for its long-standing support and provided an overview of China Minmetals' business operations and development. He stated that China Minmetals is strengthening its core function of 'ensuring the supply and security of national metal mineral resources' and enhancing its core competitiveness, which it defines as 'integrated, high-quality development across the entire industrial chain'. The company is advancing a strategy of focusing on core businesses, realigning industries and consolidating resources, and is committed to becoming a world-class metal mining enterprise group with global competitiveness. Since China Minmetals and Huawei began cooperating, significant achievements have been made in areas such as cultivating emerging industries, cybersecurity, constructing information infrastructure, and training in digital transformation. Both sides hope to regard this meeting and the signing ceremony as a new starting point, fully harness their respective strengths in response to national needs and future development directions, further deepen practical cooperation, and jointly serve the broader national strategy.
Liang Hua welcomed Chen Dexin and his delegation and spoke highly of China Minmetals' profound expertise and industry influence in the metal minerals sector. He stated that Huawei is committed to creating a fully connected, intelligent world, offering market-leading products and solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, 5G, digital energy and IT. Currently, the trends toward intelligent, green, and integrated industrial development are unmistakable. The full‑industry‑chain advantages of China Minmetals and the technological innovation strengths of Huawei are closely aligned, offering broad prospects for cooperation. Huawei is willing to continue leveraging its technological, talent-based and ecosystem strengths to actively facilitate the implementation of bilateral cooperation, and to contribute to the joint cultivation of new, high-quality productive forces.
Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate closely in areas such as artificial intelligence applications, information infrastructure development and digital literacy training. Together, they will promote the deep integration of digital technologies in the metal mining industry and encourage the sector's high-quality development.
Prior to the talks, Chen Dexin toured Huawei's intelligent manufacturing factory, accompanied by Jiang Wangcheng, the CEO of Huawei's Oil & Gas, Steel, Cement, Metallurgy and Mining Corps.
Relevant executives from Huawei, along with heads of relevant headquarters departments and subsidiaries of China Minmetals, attended the related events.
